Doing LIFE together ~ The LIFE Journal Bible reading plan is one way we can grow together as a spiritual family. Pick up a LIFE Journal plan in the lobby and make one of your New Year’s resolutions doing LIFE together with your church. Don't Quit! If you've already gotten off track, just begin again and let's keep worshipping our way together through scripture.
Dinner with the Doctor begins Friday evening at 6 p.m. Approximately 60 people have registered so far. NorthwestVeg sent information to their subscriber list. There may be a number of people attending Sabbath morning who have had no prior experience with Seventh-day Adventists. They may not even be aware that the morning’s events are part of a worship service.
One of the things I love about our church is how you welcome those who “don’t fit the mold.” This weekend, we have another opportunity to shine as a warm, welcoming, safe environment.
God's Closet ministry needs volunteers! From Sunday, January 28 through Friday, February 2, there are plenty of opportunities to volunteer. On Thursday evening for high school-age students, and Friday morning for families, some 300 families will be lining up to get quality gently-used clothing. Between God's Closet and our Community Services Center, hundreds of Clark County families are experiencing a little better life because of volunteers like you. Come and experience the blessing that comes from Reaching Out.
Safety first! The locks for the Auditorium/Worship Center doors are completed. This will allow us a measure of safety for times when no one is in there. We could technically go on lockdown also with a really bad situation if needed. We're talking about all kinds of safety issues right now. As they say in airports, be aware of your surroundings and report any safety issues to the office.
The NPUC just signed on to support and help with our spring Evangelism Training. It's tentatively called EvangeLead (mashing Evangelism and Leadership together). César DeLéon, the NPUC Ministerial Director, will be the main speaker. The dates for this event are April 22-24 - same as the opening days of our Seminar with Dan Bentzinger.
Our pastoral team has developed a preaching calendar where there will be more continuity in the sermons. The pastoral staff has laid out a sermon schedule from now until Camp meeting. We will take a more solid team approach to the speaking on topics. Team teaching involves sharing sermon series. In other words, each pastor will likely have a role in speaking in each sermon series. I believe this will be a positive approach as we become a stronger church through the Team Teaching.
Receipts for 2017 tithes and offerings will be mailed out next week. Let us know if you have not received your receipt by February 15.
Our church Social Activities Committee has planned out great events for the year! Be sure to pick up a Save the Date list of activities and put those dates on your calendar. If you were here last Sabbath, the correct dates for church campout will be September 14 to 16. They will have more detailed information about the campout in the next few weeks but do save the date on your calendar.
Next Sabbath, you will have an opportunity to sign up for the Valentine’s Dinner on February 13. This is an event for everyone, not just for couples. But space is limited. Registration will be first come, first served.
The time we spend together in worship, prayer and fellowship is important as we help each other on our spiritual journeys. May God bless each of you in your LIFE journey.
