Most of us are familiar with the children's song about the foolish man who built his house upon the sand and when the rains came down and the floods came up you know what happened to his house! The part we like best is when the wiseman built his house upon the rock. Remember the rains came down and the floods came up but the house on the rock stood firm. That song is both literal and figurative. There is much in life that can overwhelm, even drown out, our daily plans and activities. As children sing the song they understand that the rock the house is built on is Jesus.
Are you familiar with the word "bedrock"? Bedrock is the layer of rock that is solid beneath the surface. It won't slip or slide, it won't crumble or shatter. It is a dependable foundation on which to build. It is a trustworthy foundation on which to live.
Evangelism is meant to introduce people to Jesus, the bedrock on which to build their lives.
Everyone who hears my words and obeys them is like a wise man who built his house on rock. It rained hard, the floods came, and the winds blew and hit that house. But it did not fall, because it was built on rock.
Matthew 7:24-25 NCV
Pray that your life will be built on the bedrock of Jesus so you can be an example for the world around you.
