How long will it take us to understand eternity? When we get to heaven, will we try and make lunch dates with people two weeks out, when two millenniums will eventually seem like short notice? How long will it take before eternity fits us a like a glove? Before it seems like we’ve always been there and the life we lived on earth seems more like an uncomfortable pair of shoes that we never really broke in.
Perhaps the better question is, how long will it take us, right here and right now, to stop dwelling on things we should simply leave in the Lord’s hands and go about His business. We make so many excuses why we have to wait for a more convenient day, or week, or year, but God asks us to trust Him and walk when we can’t see the path, and speak when He gives us the words.
The Bible says we will be given a thousand years in heaven to get many of our questions answered, but here on earth, we just don’t have that kind of time.
“But , beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord, one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.”
II Peter 3:8
Ask God to help you put people first, caring more about their salvation than about your schedule.
