My husband Dave is scheduled for surgery in less than two weeks. By the time you read this it will long be over. He is not looking forward to it. He knows all about the pain because he had the same kind of surgery on the opposite shoulder a few years ago. He knows that the first few days post-op will not be fun. He knows that the physical therapy following surgery will not be a picnic in the park. He also knows he has to do it if he wants good results from the operation.
The other side of this is it will be a relief not to have all the pain he has been living with for too long. He already plans to work hard to regain shoulder mobility. He knows he needs to have this done so he is doing it. He knows that he only has to put himself in the hands of the surgeon. The surgeon will do all the work. He trusts his surgeon to do his very best while Dave sleeps through it. Now all that stands between Dave and the surgery is giving his permission for the surgeon to operate.
Jesus is the Master Surgeon who promises to do his very best for us. He is willing to cut to the core of our problem to save us. Sometimes it's not comfortable. He only asks for our permission so he can help us.
Where are you in this picture?
“LORD, heal me, and I will truly be healed. Save me, and I will truly be saved. You are the one I praise.”
Jeremiah 17:14 NCV
Give God permission to do whatever needs to be done to put you in right relationship with Him.
